Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 18 M&M’s Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), scored
a solid sixth-place finish in Sunday’s Dickies 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
race at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. While he ran as high as second on lap 246 of the 334-lap race, late-race pit strategy by his competitors hindered Busch from finishing inside the top-five. “It was a good race car; the M&M’s Toyota was decent,” said Busch, who brought home his 20th top-10 finish of the season. “We battled all day to get up there and then we got shuffled back. It was the best we could do with the car we had.” After a disappointing qualifying run on Friday, Busch started 29th but quickly showed he was a contender by moving up 20th positions in the first 64 laps.JGR.com |

Busch Ties Ard With 10th Win |
Kyle Busch earned a milestone victory by winning Saturday’s O’Reilly Challenge NASCAR
Nationwide Series race at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. The driver of
the No. 18 Farm Bureau Insurance Toyota led five times for an astonishing 174
laps in the 200-lap race to score his 10th Nationwide Series win of the season,
tying the mark set by Sam Ard in 1983. The win was also Busch’s 21st career Nationwide
Series victory in 136 career starts. “It was a strong car all day and it kind of set the tone,” said Busch, who swept the Nationwide Series races at Texas in 2008, as he won the April 5 race at the 1.5-mile oval to kick-off what has become a dominant season. “We had a good race car yesterday when we were practicing it. It felt good. It had speed, but the balance wasn’t quite there so we were working on it. Joel (Weidman, crew chief) made some good calls in practice trying to get it right, and we made it to where it was really good today off the bat. (JGR.com) |
Busch Finishes 2nd After Hauler Fire En Route To Texas |
Kyle Busch driving the No. 51 Miccosukee Resort Toyota Tundra took to the track for
the running of the Silverado 350k in the third position at the Texas Motor Speedway
Friday, October 31st. Busch and the Billy Ballew Motorsports had
their own spooky Halloween week after the No. 51 transport hauler burnt in Shreveport,
Louisiana while en route to the Texas Motor Speedway. The team was
able to recover the primary truck, No. 11, some uniforms and a tool box.
Despite all the challenges the Billy Ballew Motorsports team rallied posting
a second place finish at the Denton County, Texas racetrack. From the start of the race Busch excelled taking the lead before the field made their first circuit around the 1.5-mile Fort Worth, TX race track. Busch led three times for a total laps led to 87 laps in the 147 lap event. Busch notched several statistics according to the NASCAR Loop Data including only being passed three times during the 147-lap event, was the fastest on the restarts averaging a speed of 169.461 miles per hour.
